Holiday Grab and Go Kits:
Need some fun activities for your kids during the holiday break? Stop by our office on December 15 and pick up a holiday grab & go kit! The kits include four to six holiday-themed activities, are limited in number, and will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Teen Board:
Teen Board is open to any youth 8th grade and up. This month they will be assisting with Cooking Club and  Cloverbud Cooking Club joint meeting. The meeting will be on Monday, December 11th from 4:30-6:00 p.m.

Closed for the Holidays:
Please note that the Daviess County Extension Office will be closed for the holidays December 25-January 1. We will reopen on January 2 at 8:00 a.m.

4-H Speech Contest
4-H Speech Contest will be held Thursday, December 7 at the Daviess County Extension Office. Details have been emailed to those who signed up.

4-H/FFA Feeder Calf Project
Project year-end awards were given out November 8 during the Daviess County Cattleman’s annual meeting.  Eleven youth participated this year raising 18 calves. Eight youth turned in their record books, thereby completing the project.  They each received a $200 premium for completing the project.  Winners received a leather patch hat, and the overall winner received an embroidered backpack.  Watch for information about the 2024 feeder calf project after the first of the year.

Cooking Clubs:
Cooking Club and Cloverbud Cooking Club will be doing a joint meeting this month. They will meet on Monday, December 11th from 5:00-6:00 p.m. at the Daviess County Extension Office. Scan the QR Code to register for this meeting.

Christmas Parade:
Thank you to the Daviess County 4-H Livestock Club for organizing our float at the Christmas parade! The float was called “Gifts of 4-H”.

Breakfast Pizza
Ingredients: Cooking spray; 1/2 cup chopped onion; 2 (8 ounce) tubes reduced-fat crescent rolls; 1/2 cup green pepper, chopped; 1/2 cup tomatoes, chopped; ½ pound breakfast sausage; 4 eggs well-beaten; 1 cup (4 ounce) fresh mushrooms; 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese chopped or sliced.

Directions: 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Spray a cookie sheet.
2.Press crescent rolls onto the cookie sheet with fingers to create one even sheet of dough.
3.  Pinch up the edges to hold toppings.
4.   In a skillet, brown sausage and drain.
5.  Sprinkle sausage, mushrooms, onion, green pepper, and tomatoes evenly over the dough.
6.  Pour eggs over top and sprinkle with cheese.
7. Bake for 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
8. Cut into squares with a pizza cutter and serve.
Notes: Fat and cholesterol can be reduced by using low-fat cheese and 6 egg whites instead of 4 eggs.

Inclement Weather Policy:
If Daviess County Public Schools are cancelled due to inclement weather, then all 4-H events/meetings are cancelled. Club leaders will decide if meetings will be rescheduled. We will post any cancellations on the Daviess County 4-H Facebook page. You may also call us at 270-685-8480 to check.
